Helppp! Not starting.
Well I just bought my first 86, noob.. haha but it has a red top 16v swapped in it. It was supposably running when I bought it. Never saw it turn over..Fail on my part but was told it needed a new wire harness and tps. So I went out and picked up a new red top harness and tps. Now im having problems getting it to turn over or even get spark. When I turn the key the power in the car just dies down...So I was seeing if you guys could help me out some. There are some wires disconnected and im guessing thats why but not to sure. Heres some pics of where im at. Also those vacuum lines are a mess.

Is there a tvis->smallport adapter plate in there, because that looks like a bluetop inlet to me.
But I'll get to the point: check the ECU for error codes (if you can find the check connector that is). Please dont ask how, download the manual or do a search, it has been explained many a time...
After that get back to us with the results and we'll go from there.

Sigh... you'll need to find the check connector plug, bridge the connectors in it, and then turn the ignition on.. then look for a flashing sequence etc etc.
The check engine light without the check connector bridged is not a very useful source of information.

With an install looking this dirty, there is no point debating other possible causes, there are just too many. The ECU can help you identify the essential ones.

What a mess!
Check your battery, use a fresh one.
If it doesn´t turn over that could be the simple cause.

Get the manual/ engine diagnosis from here and do as told before.
Get it sorted until the engine output signal is normal.

Don´t forget to clear memory between your repair attends. Most errors are stored in memory and won´t clear by themself, even if the error is not present!

If it was a basket case, with good parts that just needed to be assembled, you'd still be fucked because you don't know what does what and what goes where.
This thing is FUBAR'd for anyone without a lot of time & talent(talent already acquired through experience or the talent to learn) to set it straight.
Sorry.
Good luck.

on picture 1 i see a black conector that is not conected.
is the wire black or black/brown? on my car this wire is a ground wire
for the engine. if 1 ground is not conected it can be a problem.
