Hiya all! (NL)
Hiya all!
This is Kenny from Amsterdam. Nice to meet you all here . I bought a Silver Levin coupe a few months ago. And I enjoy driving it (duh!). This Levin was bought from Hellenbrand in Brunssum...(of course..)before discovering this cool forum with some negative responses about Hellenbrand . But its still drives fine, so far so good, i shall say. Ok i discovered some small things though. I dont have a front lip included lol!! But i think thats my own mistake, didnt know/see that there was a lip for 86s, so didnt ask for it, now i regret it as i see that the frontlips are very pricey now. And the Econ/Power lights dont work!! Hope you guys could help me out with this one. I already checked the 86manual pdf but no clues. I at least know the sensor thing is that "single-wire plug" located at the right side of engine bay. Hmmm...I also have some bad news here... Today i drove my 86, went on highways etc.. okay, everything went as normal. Then i wanted to take an right hander turn, so I ease up on the throttle, turned in, gave some gas...I suddenly felt my 86's rear end slipping. I tried to countersteer, but i already saw that it has no effect anymore....so i stepped on the brakes...and spun out, hitting my rear left wheel to the pavement edge...and got a flat tyre. As i check my car after spinning out, i see that a small piece of an edge/flange of my wheel has broken off . And I drove carefully and slwly...i just went 30-35 km/h in that stpid turn...!!! I just killed 1 of my Toyota stock wheels this ruines my wednesday... But ok...lucklly nothing else was hit. And there we're no other traffic. But still Blegh But ok #2, I'm learning alot from you guys, nice site interesting stuff (i'll post some pics asap as have time !) |

Hiya all! (NL)
Thanks for the offer JonT, I have to save some money first (looks like this is a standard issue for a hachi-driver).
I also spend half of my week in Delft(zuid), I study over there. Ok i should keep my eyes open in both places . but if its in my line of sight i cant miss it. Just a matter of time |

Hiya all! (NL)
Hahaha, coolest, could very well be that you bought the car I almost bought 3 years ago. But I couldn't get my car sold in time so... The econ light didn't work back then either. Probably just a bad sensor or a broken wire, or a bad contact. Its just a vacuum switch if I am not mistaken, nothing technologically complex. Should be near your wiper reservoir in your engine bay.
Well you're close enough to most of us, banpai is in adam aswell, jesse is just down the A1 a bit, Robo lives in adam now adays, TE71 lives closely to the north of amsterdam and I'm about to move to Hoofddorp which still counts as close.... Sounds like we need to get a little winter meet aranged, housewarming party at my place in feb Anyways, there's plenty of those rimms around, I still have a set of 4 in my garage but they need new tires and need to be sandblasted and painted. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only ones that has a set left so. You might wanne check your rear tires if you lost traction so quickly just cause it was a little wet, at those speeds you either need to hit the trottle hard, or be on snow. Then again, mine broke out just like that the other day and I got the cops seeing it, almost lost my license too.. still waiting for the fine... So plenty of us having had that problem before Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Hiya all! (NL)
I contacted Hellenbrand after seeing that the econ.power light didt work. he said that econ light didnt work maybe because of the bulb, but the power light should be fine. Neither of those work now, Hellenbrand said i could spray some contactspray in that wire/contact. Anyone of you have ideas how to check this thing and make it to work? As far as i know..only Europe has those econ light and i want to be a proud owner of a EU 86. Its just nice to see that your driving economically
Ah mux, if you bought this one back then = no hachi for me (maybe) haha. Did you discover some bad things from this car back then? But i see that you already own a nice hachi now. Good to hear that parts are still available. I already was thinkin how my hachi is going to look like...with 3 stock and 1 stupid black rim or save my money and buy a pair of new rims for the back only...lol. I'll check my tire and maybe take some pics to let you guys judge, as I'm not a pro. But it should be ok...i thought. And i didnt hit the throttle hard. Im still figuring out what i did. But you almost lost your license? :S? lol dutch cops... Hope the fine is not that much... Lol ok im not the only one, so got any advice for me what NOT to do . |

Hiya all! (NL)
About the Econ/Power lights: what's the exact problem?
I have seen it stay stuck on power one time, and another time it would stay stuck at the green econ light. If a bulb is broken you should still see the remaining light switching on and off as you step hard on the throttle. I currently dont even have this sensor mounted in my car and now it's stuck on econ. I really cant be bothered with it anymore myself, the bolt holding the sensor in place broke off on my car. BTW, what do you study? You might see me and my brother's volvo 360 around...it's parked near a bunch of university buildings (grey+white stripes...no exhaust at the moment ) FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |
