Jan, trust me, 10k will score you a scrapper here aswell. Expect to pay around 18k to 20k for a good second hand IS here aswell. Offcourse Dk always is higher priced due to your crazy tax laws.

New they start at 35k for the basic model so.

For a second hand one with many miles!!!

Crappy thing was that I almost had the chance to buy one for much less from work because my collegue was smart enough to drive one in a ditch last winter. Not much damage but the electronics got wet and so did some of the interiour, so the car needed a good clean and some stuff replaced. Was very tempted...
Indeed. Or the one which was for sale (11k) at that dodgy garage in my street: it was clear the car got serious damage before ending up there. Wink
So, thats how I came up with the 10k+ Wink

mux i was reffering to evos, skylines and WRx'. Altezza is a very nice car indeed i know, i was trying to persuade my uncle to buy it, but he went for the Citroen C5 (looser Evil ).

Anyway how much are you looking to spend? I was checking our market now, and you can get a nice '91 Volvo 440, with 150kms, for 300 eur here Big Grin

That aside i would probably go for a honda. They make very strong and precise cars. And i love their engines and trannys. Though you might want to get a rwd car, i dunno.. in that case bimmers are nice. Its the only german manufacturer (aside from porsche) i'd buy anything from. A nice e34 (-'94 5 series) could be had for around 1000 eur. my father had 4 of those and now he drives a e39 525i. He swears to bmw - and for a good reason. They are good cars.

Apolan,

Not sure what I am willing to spend, still thinking between either going for very cheap car (1k-2k) or going for finance and getting something new. Both have good and bad sides to them. Have to work out the pro's and con's. All depends a bit on how good our new business will go once we get it up and running I guess.

BMW indeed make very good cars, but I'm sortof against buying one. Still a good 5 series is a very nice car, though I find them to heavy and to big, it brings up the monthly costs way to high.

If i was seriously looking for a family car my first choice would be a Toyota Camry. Camry = Safe, Reliable, Cheapish (here in NZ anyway) and good features for money.

We have a vehicle weight based taxation system..so I think a camry would be a lot more expensive here.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

Well, it's not just the EU, it's more or less depending per country. Wink
I think Holland has one of the weirdest systems: we base it on the weight, type of vehicle and on the fuel system. Confused
