clutch master cyl
hey i replaced my clutch master cylinder and now i have a problem. The joint where the hard line attaches to the master cylinder is leaking fluid.
Is there anything i can seal with as i know clutch fluid is a pain to seal something like silicone ? i will try tighten it harder as the nut hasn't reached the the body of the cylinder thx Alex |

Usually the leak is caused by the pipe not seating properly, tightening it up more may ruin the flange on the pipe.
Try undoing the union until it is almost out then pull the pipe hard, this should seat the pipe square against the union, continue pulling whilst doing up the union. hth TC An analogue brain in a digital World |

the number(s) on the cylinder is most likely the bore size (13/16") but IIRC the lines use a 10mm. it's really easy to cross-thread the hard line fittings in the master cylinder. you'd be better off replacing the MC than trying to re-thread it in my opinion.
if you choose to replace the MC, try lining up the cylinder where it aught to go w/o bolting it down, then carefully begin to thread in the hard lines. by not securing the MC first, it gives you room to play in order to line things up. good luck. "Strictly All Things 86" |
