ITB's to the original 16v
Depends what your after, Ive gone for a 20v blacktop with engine management but I cant comment cause its still sitting on the ground.
Dans got a few sets of carbs if you ask him about em, last time i spotted webber 40s & jap ones which I cant remember (begins with an "M"), Ive seen em a few times on jap imports.
If you do go for 20v ITBs Dan & Peter cant get you an adaptor plate for small money.
ae86jay on driftworks had a silvertop for sale dunno if he still has it.

What do you mean? Its the exact same process for all styles of 16v but you just have to select the correct intake manifold.

oh ok, still learning sorry. I understood there was a bigger difference seeing as I'd only ever seen it done to the later engine.

ok so
my original engine
20v itbs (injectors and tps)
adapter plate
vacuum collection chamber (where can I get?)
standalone or piggyback ecu? what will be good here, preferably a Japanese unit that can be read in english aswell. greddy emanage ultimate? but one that can be still used later if I upgrade cams.
is that everything needed?

For a full engine rebuild what gets replaced/rebuilt?

If I wanted 150ish bhp from the original engine, running 20v itb's and a full rebuild what do I need?
Whats the situation with cams for this kind of power? is it just buy the cams, fit and tune or are there other things that need doing (I'm assuming there are lots!)

Any help appreciated.

James,

Not sure if it was mentioned here but as an interesting alternative, new guy on this forum called Ron Hellenbrand can reprogram your stock ECU to work with ITBs. Might be a cheaper solution then getting a standalone or piggyback ECU and he's getting some very interesting results. Only problem is that he's in NL so finetuning the maps for your engine may be troublesome unless you fancy a vacation here Big Grin

sounds good but as I hope to do further work down the line I'd rather spend the money now and be covered. good idea though

James,

Then I would go for a good stand alone one so you can always change the ECU on demand as you upgrade/change you engine.

Allthough I do not know the extent of work Ron has put into the stock ECU reprogramming. Might have to talk with him about it because if we could wip up some software to make the reprogrammed stock ECU accessible through some software...

His solution involves having downloaded the stock ECU programming onto a laptop or PC, changing the software so certain input singles work differently and then uploading it into an EPROM so all you really need is one of those boxes to reload EPROMS and some software to tweak the maps I guess (not an expert in this).

See the dyno's he's posted..seems to be working for him. Dunno whether he's offering this as a service though.
