Ian.G's Track/Drift Levin.
I figured it was about time I created a proper project thread for my car instead of just using the 'new bits for hachi thread'.
Now seems like a good time as I destroyed my engine yesterday at dono. As the front of the car gets stripped down I'll post pictures. I have built an entire car in the past but I have never done any serious taking to bits of engines (the only internal work I did on an engine was fitting a modified oil pickup in the bottom of a hayabusa engine prior to fitting a dry sump). This will be a challenge and big learning exercise for me. Wish me luck and watch this space. Regards Ian. |

I say thet you move the "new bits for Hachi" to the Project session and keep on going from there. Thats what i'd do.
And as i said, get yourself a gZe. danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |

We don't know what happened yet banpei,
I was going down the back straight at donington in 4th and there was a nasty noise so I backed off and coasted into the pits. The oil was pretty much empty (even though I checked it in the morning). There is no black smoke, no oil contamination in the water header, the sump plug is still in so we dont know where it went - burnt I suspect. The rattles come beyond 2,500rpm. I am in the process of stripping down the car now in the evenings after work. I am going to start the engine for the last time tonight when two of my buddies show up so we can take a listen. It sounds like the bottom end to me - probably spun bearings. If its the top of the engine (which I doubt) then I may as well bin it LOL. I am not making any sudden choices until I know what is actually broken. But there are a few plans in the pipeline of how to recover from this. I miss the car already so we need to fix it pretty quick sharp. Regards Ian. |

nmwisima - I want to stay NA for the time being - I know its less power but I think it just suits the car better. Maybe in the future I will build another engine - but for now it has to be another ITB'd screamer

Have you ever drive a gZe powered AE86??
Cause recently I was in the passenger seat of a 20V AE86 and yes, it might suit better the character of the car, but the difference is HUGE. gZe is so much better... danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |
