Now this one's coming back together really looking forward to seeing the progress! Should be one of the best AE86's in the world. They call these the "Uso-Ni-Sen" in Japan, instead of the S-Ni-Sen

Thanks Miguel - I am very touched that you like the way the car is turning out. Uso-Ni-Sen what does that mean exactly ?. I know only a few words of japanese LOL.
Jan, sorry for the late response on this one...I dont actually have any centre caps for the wheels do you want me to measure the diameter of the hole they would normally sit in or does that not help you either ? Its all a bit quiet on the car front at the moment - waiting for paint, waiting for the exhaust, waiting for a quote on a new DMAX carbon bonnet - bit over budget too but hey ho LOL. Hopefully have some more progress to report in a week or so. Regards Ian. |

Hey Ian,
Do I like it.... WOW, I love it, man! The level of preparation of the shell is top notch and so are the bits you're putting onto it. I can see this being one of the best prepared AE86's in the world when finished. You'll not ever want to sell this car, as it'll fill you with happy adrenalin & put a smile on your face each time you drive it, I'm sure. Although I haven't seen their bonnet close up - Careful with D-Max though... It's poor quality stuff made in China. I saw an S14 built with genuine D-Max wide kit and the fit and finish was best described as poor. They don't have a great reputation in the Japanese scene. Others make much better stuff. "Uso-Ni-Sen" sounds almost like "S2000" in Japanese. When Toyonda owners here are asked what they have, they say "Uso-Ni-Sen". It means "false S2000" - Not in a negative way.. These words make people wonder, "Eh? UsoNiSen?" - so then they look at the car, can't see why.... Until they take a look under the bonnet  VISIT OUR NEW WEBSITES!!!! I have to admit, I am sat here (kinda) patiently waiting for updates! This car and Miguel's are basically the things fuelling my 86 passions currently.

Miguel - Newera Wrote:Hey Ian, I've been warned - but I'm just wondering who does a bonnet in this exact style - cant use a drop vented bonnet (the f20 is further forward than a 4AGE). do you know anyone that does this style ? the other option is the RunFree one which is upswept at the back near the wipers to let air out. I just like the style of the DMAX one very very much. Regards Ian. |

Hi Ian,
I can't think of another that's quite the same design TBH. I've had a look at my file of AE86 pics and couldn't spot anything that might interest you. Perhaps if there's something with the finish you didn't like, you could always fill & paint such areas, leaving the centre in carbon? As I remember, the Silvia I saw which had just been built with D-Max kit had particularly bad moulding on the edges of panels. Fit was also quite poor too. Sorry I can't be of more help here. Isn't the Origin hood quite close to what you search?
