Idle not going smooth...
Hey, i have a question for you guys that probably know allot more about AE's than me.

I recently changed the oil/filter on my AE86. 10W40 Full synthetic oil. But still i have this question popping on my head.

My idle engine sound is not smooth.... it goes smooth until it chokes, then goes smooth, and chokes a bit.... it's like it has been tweaked to accept more fuel on the injectors. And my question is, how can i adjust the fuel admission on the engine?

I'm with 159k km's atm.

Later i can record some idle moments....

Regards

Is your ignition set allright? If it´s advanced to much it could cause such behavoir... I´d also check the sparkplugs, dizzy cap rotor maybe one cylinder only fires randomly? Did you take a look at the spark plugs are they all coloured normal?
If you haven´t done anything else, beside the oil change start with these general service things Smile

"Fuel admission", what exactly is that? Are you talking about the CO potentiometer?

Idle not going smooth...
Hi,

I had problems with the idling revs not being constant sometimes.
I replaced the rubber-cups from the injectors. They were leaking so "false" air came in.
After replacement it idles like new Smile

Parts are still available at TPC, price was around 20Euro I think.

Good luck with it.

I've checked the spark plugs, and its all going smooth there... When i bought the car, it was said do me that because it had a conic air filter, it was tweaked to admit more gas... Dunno where they changed those settings, and the topic was to try to find some answers for that...

The only thing to change would be CO-potiometer. But it´s unlikely to cause unstable idle...

What´s with the ignition stetting?

Putting a resistor in series with the ECU water temp sensor used to
be a favourite way of getting more gas into the engine. The resistor
(and sometimes it was a small rotary pot) makes the ECU think that
the engine is cold, and it richens the fuel mixture.

Maybe you can go to a garage with a tailpipe WBO2 probe, and have
them measure the AFR's to see if you are running rich ??

same thing here, exactly, after changing oil and filter, handbrake light is on all the time, checked plugs, dizzy, timing, injectors, intake manifold, all fine, it happened after changing the oil and filter, I thought the guy accidentally cut a wire, checked all wires but nothing new.

it's been a week now, can't drive the freaking thing. Crying

In some markets I understand that if the handbrake light and the check
engine light remain on, it means that your alternator is not charging Tongue

Might be worth checking the voltage at the battery, and making sure it
rises to 13.6V (or something like) after the engine has started.
