gt99, from what I know about japanese auctions is that most have very detailed lists of the state of the car that is pretty accurate. Mate of mine that imported a Mazda Cosmo JC is still looking for certain dents mentioned on the auction sheet. These auction guys are pretty thourough.
Not sure if all auctions are equally dependable offcourse, and nobody has xray eyes offcourse

also japanese cars are mostly much better preserved than eu cars.
