Injector Impedence.
I have fitted ITB's and standalone ECU (Perfectpower XMSL). I had the car running and drove it over to the rolling road to get mapped. That was two months ago!!! The car will not take any throttle, we have tried moving the crank position sensor, rewired the ECU/engine, but still no joy. I am convince the ECU cannot drive the injectors. According to the Toyota manual the injectors should measure 13.8 Ohms. Does this mean thay are high impedence, could I change them for low impedence ones?

Cheers

Ivan

13.8 is high impedence. Low impedence is typically in the 1 - 3 ohm range. Put a multimeter across the two injector terminals and see what resistance they are. Check what resistance injectors your standalone ecu requires. Perhaps the ECU can be programmed to run whatever you want to run resistance wise?

The ECU and injector resistances have to tally or it won't run properly

Get ECU (Perfectpower XMSL) manufacturer's support about that.

Is the engine running when you say "will not take any throttle" ?

Does this mean that it chokes and dies when you open the throttle ? If
so, it is often a sign that the timing is over-advanced.

I have been in contatc with Perfectpower directly, they said I would nee to run a set of amplifiers to run the injectors of that impedence. I have got them now, so will hopefully get the car sorted soon.

Will keep you posted on the power output etc.

I went up to the car today and the guy had the injector Amplifiers wired in, this seems to have cured the problem, can runs quite well. His rolling road is broken at the minute so once that is sorted the car can get properly mapped. Then just need to tidy it up.

Will post power figures when it' done.

Cheers

Which injectors(up to the OEM) can we use for 4age bigport wiring plug/connector injectors? I dont want to replace the wiring connector of bigport.
Thx a lot

use any bigport or smallport injectors I think the plugs are the same. I thought they were all low impedence (just check with a multimeter) and top feed. Later 20v injectors are high imp. and side feed. If you need more flow, 7mge injectors fit and flow ~295cc, and 7mgte injectors flow more again.

No, there are different plugs for different injectors.

See here http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/Pit/9...ctors.html

I also believe that you need the correct impedence for your ECU (high or low) but have heard of a couple of people who claim they put high impedence smallport greens into a bigport low impedence ECU controlled engine.
