Installing 4AGZE in AE86
I think a front mounted intercooler is the only way to go. You would need a big ugly scoop on the bonnet to get enough air to that topmount thing to make it work efficiently. And you could probably best use an aftermarket or salvaged frontmount IC, since the end tanks are not in a favourable position on that original intercooler. No need to get a wopping big intercooler though, that would probably just result in more lag.

Well, the ic in that picture is right upon the exhaust manifold. It would be better if you even filled your fuel tank with water
Yes, now you know my opinion. I have the stock ic and a Mk2 Supra sitting at my house... I think that if you stay stock the gZe ic is pretty ok for the cold weathers of Denmark. Now the prob with the stock ic is that both inlet and outlet are at the same side. The solution is pretty simple through: Turn the ic anticlock wise so both in/out are the left side (as you look the car from the front). Then you make the piping with as less curves as possible. This way no piping goes near or over the ex.manifold. danielvanderwoude Wrote:looks like the nmwisima joke saved you in the endhttp://www.jdmbits.com |

that is a good choice i probably will try that.. in the end it might be easy then lifting the boonet a litle bit and improvising a crapy hot air isolation(my first plann)... the only thing i don't like is the litle bit lag due to the bigger pipes.. but probably better then the hot air.. the other issue its I have AC installed (one more radiator in the front lol) and i pretend to keep it since in portugal we have some really hot days in the summer... any way probably i will need to wait for the engin on the place(the car is currently beeing reeinforced and painted)... -==SimRacing Portugal==- |

But my idea was to move the IC more to the left and make new pipes. But a stock IC frontmounted is also in my mind. Under no circumstances im making the pipes go acros the engine as most people chooses. Thats so damn ugly! nmwisima, you still have to tell me wich engine mangement youre using..
