Is the electrical fan conversion any good?

Hi guys,

I'm wondering the benefits and possible fans that could be used in a mechanical fan -> electrical fan conversion.

Is this actually worth the effort? How much of load reduction am I giving the engine? what are the good fans that could be used in this?

yes , do it now , any el. fan from junkyard will do fine ( find one that is not to big to fit in the space from radiator to the engine)
and thermoswitch should be around 86C or so...

and go to electrician to deal whit all the cables .
you will notice better throttle responce

I have also bought a thermostat and fan to do this conversion. I havn't installed it yet, so I don't know the results, but it should be noticeable. No more lag from the viscose fan

I think it's one of those thing that some people just know and others don't think about.

The way I understand, anything you can lighten on the crank (or that the crank turns) will free up power (But it may not be a lot). Flywheel, pulleys, carrier baring ect.

I am using Ek civics fan with radiator.

is that good? also once you did this conversion what improvements did you feel? how much of HP do you think the gain was?

It´s a good thing to get rid of the mechanical fan. I don´t think there´ll be more HP, but the engine turns a bit easier. Same effect as lighten the flywheel for example...
