Its in Finally
After 8 months of stripping and putting back together, my 4AGE is finally back in. It does look so much tidier without the loom.
Ignore the state of the rocker covers, I attempted the rising sun iconic paintwork, but didn't do a very good job - although they look a bit lairy like this so may leave them as is. Got to put camshafts in again and check valve clearances as shims were put in out of sequence by accident! |

Are those the 60 dollar low compression ebay pistons I spot?
I have a pair in the basement but I think I'll get myself some original 10:1 pistons if I can find them at a reasonable price. Keep us updated on how she runs though. I noticed you shopping around for cams a while ago, can you give us some details on the build? (Also would be nice to see dyno result, but I'm asking much here). FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

They are $100 actually
The pistons that came out of the engine were low compression and the ones I bought luckily were also low compression (i then found out what i had). They are however 0.5 oversize. I would have used original mr2 10.1 pistons but with what I had planned I would have suffered from DET. I bought the 7105137 cat cams 252/260 - 85/9.0 lift I will have it dyno'd once the engine is up and running but that won't be for at least a month i'm afraid. I rebuilt the bottom, everything replaced excluding the oil pump, crankshaft and conrods. I've also got a fidanza flywheel, which I had fitted originally, which is back on now and a lightweight crank pulley. I have a lightweight PAS pulley if anyone is interested? This is the full spec of the car: Engine: 81.5mm pistons New piston rings Mahle conrod bearings Mahle main bearings Mahle Thrust Washers ARP conrod bolts ARP main bolts New sump with oil cooler outlet Fidanza 212mm flywheel C52 gearbox Corolla T-sport clutch Iridium spark plugs Magnecor HT leads 7mm Cometic 1mm metal head gasket Janspeed full s/s exhaust Blitz SUS filter on TB Suspension: Koni SSK kit Mk2 Turbo 18mm rear ARB Superflex front & rear ARB bushes Cusco front strut brace Brakes: Celica GT4 Twin piston front calipers Subaru Impreza Red Stuff pads (modified to suit) HEL braided hoses Yellow stuff rear pads Standard front and rear discs Exterior: Mk3 15” Roadster alloys 195/50/15 Yoko Parada Spec2 front tyres 195/50/15 Uniroyal Rainsport rear tyres Fully rebuilt rear wheel arches Supercharger rear lights c/w boot lock Buddy Club replica front splitter* Fibre glass front wings *pending funds |
