I have to give credit to R.ave who pinged me on Juicebox mentioning us during his 32 minute search for the final exact answer to his question: how many AE86s were produced?
Even though the video is 32 minutes, he is able to cover almost every variant of the AE86 and add an estimation of how many were sold in each region. Also the backdrops of the AE86 production are definitely worth watching!

And the final answer isn't 42... Tongue

Its amusing to me that he mentioned that most of the UK cars in Ireland now as I recently found out about my old car being shipped to Ireland in 2012.

Anyway, I don't know if they mentioned it in their videos as I only watched the first few in the series on the Trueno restoration, but it looks like his car was featured in a Japanese video. About 8 minutes into here:

Interesting that there were so few outside of Japan. It's about 10:1 in how many were sold domestically.

Ha, I used to have the EPC installed for several years but never even considered looking that up in there. I'm not sure if I still have it somewhere but would be interesting to have a more detailed breakdown of that number (LHD, RHD, bodyststyles etc)

I wonder how it is possible to find these numbers. I'm looking at the same database as they are and i can find the AE86 numbers easily, but other cars just gives me a mess of numbers in a row of which i can't make anything sensible.

I'm trying to look up the numbers for the XV10 Camry for HubNut on YouTube, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

The screenshot is for the last of the line chassis number, but I can't imagine it being only 950.000 produced, as they sold 300.000 each year in the US alone for a couple of years

These numbers are per production plant. I see a total of 3 production plants in the frame numbers file.

Then I get to a total of:
420108 in plant 00
14989 in plant 70
951736 in plant U8
So that gives me a total of 1386833.

These numbers make more sense, but i still don't know if i'm totally correct. But i think i understand it now Smile
