KYB gr2...
Ok so I just recieved the set of front kyb gr2 struts, but they dont look like they will fit correctly. Can someone help me out with this?

Those are struts for a FWD car, and they will be of no use for your AE86
The AE86 uses a strut insert at the front (slips inside the strut housing), and a shock at the back (as shown in my sig ). You should return those struts and exchange them for AE86/GTS items. If you can't return them - use inserts only (will fit AE86 with shortened strut housing -40mm)

The struts which have that perch on where you sit the spring cannot be obtained from KYB for the ae86. Therefore you must yous your current struts, pop them open, throw the old shock away and put in the new one. Or you can go shortstroke with the ones you just bought, but again you must take the shock out of the new ones, shorten your current OEM strut by 40mm, put in the new insert from the new shock.. now you can lower your car more than 40mm.. |
