Ka86 coupe Drift project with s13 suspension setup
Eric Wrote:doggy Wrote:S13 subframe is not necessary - AE86 subframe can host S13 lca's with a little modification on the mouting holes. Tension rod - can be used from AE86 too, roll bar end links can be used from AE86 too - just you need to redrill holes on LCA's for mounting. Eric - How MORE HP would affect subframe? Rollbar? And what additional weight are you talking about? If you keeping 4A engine - wheight stays the same... On the front subframe- all you do is just make holes bigger like 1mm to fit the Nissans LCA's bolts... On the nissan LCA's you just drill one additional hole for the AE86 tension rod... Ofcorse - tension rods its better to use from Nissan - but if you dont have these on your hands - ae86 one will go just right in.. if your sticking to your ka24 engine.... just use the cross member... THE WHOLE FRONT SUSPENSION from the american 240sx which is where im assuming you are getting the engine and other bits and pieces.
it will bolt in with minor elongation to the bolt holes and a bit of fiddling for the stearing colum, or a complete swap to s13 stearing colum also. This means your engine will bolt in. the only real change you will have to make is ae86 camber tops, or reweld the strut towers for s13 camber tops. this way you can keep things like powerstearing etc all hooked up and factory. There are HEAPS of these done in aus, though none use the ka24 as we didnt get it. Search some of the aus sites and you will find out - its fairly easy... Well the front end is. the rear.... not much point, specially if its a dedicated drift car. If grip is your thing, then it might be worth the trouble. or simply use equal length kits and a nice watts link with a modified housing for small toe and camber changes. This is WAY easier to get right then the irs clutch kick, switch, tree .... oowwww |

EnvyMotorsports Wrote:a ae86 rebuild with a turbo ka24 and a s13 suspension There you have the extra horsepowers. And i guess the ka24 lump and tranny will be quite a bit heavier then a 4age engine. As far as the enginemounts: that why i said you shoud use the ka front subframe. the holes of the subframe seems to bolt on almost exactly in the ae86 chassis. so you can just use the complete front suspension, no need to take anything apart. |

latest update.... I went and got the passengers door today, I will be getting a steering column soon... and the plan has changed a small bit... I am keeping the ae86 suspension and buying a wiring kit to build a new harness for the shell... I should be getting the ka24 within a few weeks...!
