I still dont quite understand why you use 2 camcovers with oil filler caps. You would probably lose less oil through the crankcase ventilation if you replaced the left one with a closed camcover.

Ivan.... no comment on the pictures then ? Huh

If the engine puches oil.... it will not matter weather i have one or five oilcaps.

Cool kris

My point about the camcovers is this: the ae86 4age is known to push out oil through the crankcase ventilation during hard cornering (left turns only). This is because the oil is pushed against the side of the engine where it has no place to return to the bottom. When a lot has built up it comes out through the crankcase ventilation. This is also why redtop 4age's have an extra oil-return pipe from the cil.head to the oilpan (even though its not in a rwd car).

I have experienced smoke curtains coming from the exhaust many times if I did some practicing on sliding the car while going left (ie. doing wide donuts). Now you wont have the oil coming into the exhaust because you run a catchcan, but the oil will still be coming out in large amounts if you corner it hard enough. Now if you would run the closed camcover in place of the one that originally has the filler cap, the oil would have a hard time coming through the crankcase vent on the inside of your camcover, since it only builds up on the outside in turns.

Ivan - I´m well avare of the oil-pushing problem.

I also checked my catch-tank a few days ago - first time since last summer - tank was about 50% full.

this included 3 total overheatings & several hard driftruns at DD2

- Come on.. now comment on the pics Cool Cool Cool
