Yeah but they are all no ae86s!
Still if we ignore the AE86s, one if the first rotary engines, the DKM, did over 25000 rpm. I remember someone writing on a forum that he talked to one of the original engineers working together with dr Wankel and having the engine up to 100000rpm! It was never build into a car though because maintenance on this engine was impossible, you have to take the engine appart if you wanted to change the sparkplugs!
