No dyno papers yet but I'll do a small update anyway.
Found a solution for the Koyorad, a part from a coolant hose for a R50 Mini cooper fits like a glove! First drive! On the dyno. No major troubles except that the fueltank started leaking when we arrived... Sorted that by pumping out half of the fuel so we could get on the dyno. Also I had mixed up the Aux assignments between the Tacho and the exhaust VVT Here's how the engine ended up. Not the prettiest or the cleanest but does the job. And now the numbers. We ended up with 178whp on 98 octane and 194whp(!) on E85. But I hadn't planned on running E85 so now I have to change some hoses. Welded up the crack in the fueltank for now. Will see what route I take for this. |

Those are nice numbers!
The 178whp makes sense, but the E85 is even better! 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Took the car out for a drive last weekend, lots of noise, lots of vibrations and lots of fun .
But when I made a quick stop to check fuel pressure (bad wire to the fuelpump) I noticed that the clown adapter i made for the oil pressure and temp was leaking. Thinking that it probably only needed tightening I put a spanner on it and it came off! I was too greedy when I drilled out the hole but it looked like there was much more material left then it actually was. Had to plug it up with a earplug for the tow back to the garage. I remade it today with a Autometer steel adapter and tapped the oilfilter house so I could fit the oil temp which wasn't working in its previous location. Then I took it for a drive to fill her/him up. Some small things left to iron out. Exhaust is probably hitting the car and I think the driveshaft might be vibrating. The car also desperately needs new paint. Also need to fit the IAT sensor and find bigger injectors from a St215. // Johan |

Did a small job today and 3d printed a holder for the hood holder(?). Forgot to include the height of the M6 hex bolt+washer so I had to use a countersunk M6 screw instead which I could have made to fit nicer if I had intended to use it. Will see if it holds up before I make another one. // Johan |

Some more vacation jobs.
3D-printed a cover for the positive side of the battery. I also jacked up the car to do a check of the underside, some small things to do: Reset the pinion angle, cut some more of the webbing on top of the gearbox and make a skidplate for the engine as I had already rubbed it slightly I may have made the skidplate a bit too heavy duty. It's made of 40mmx40mmx4mm angle iron, 22mmx3mm pipes and ~1.5-2mm stainless plate. The car got a bit low though but I've only lowered the ground clearance ~10mm. I'll see how this works out, it it doesn't I'll modify the sump or go drysump. // Johan |

Long time, no post!
The beams worked great all summer, did 3 driftdays and some light commuting(!). Wasn't great at it tho with fuel consumption of 20L/100km But at the end I started getting heavy vibrations in 3rd and 4th, barely anything on the other gears and it disappeared when I depressed the clutch so the gearbox is probably crap. Bring on the pics! Finally bought myself a lift! Took the ITBs off for a clean and milling. Printed some plugs for the bearings and seals. Started tearing down the car again... ITBs milled out to 48mm, plastic blasted and painted. Teardown of the gearbox with the help of 2 friends and no service manual. Only thing wrong we found was that the ring for the shifter fork for 3&4th had moved too far. More teardown of the car. Had to take off the flywheel to get the engine on the stand. Turns out my cheap clutch is shit (who could have guessed? ). On the preassure plate side it had only engaged on the outer ~1.5cm. Not much left inside now. The deliveryman dropped of a pile of tubes. Looks like I can make them fit inside the 'rolla Bought a notcher with proper C E (China Export) quality. All the hardware changed out from 4.8 (wtf!?) to 8.8 and new bushings ordered for the shaft since the play was ridiculous. And that's were we at right now. I will not be driving it this year but instead "finish" it with cage, all new body wiring, equal length 4-links, new wheels?, some more stuff and finally! Paint! |

I hate to sound like a dick but that oil pressure sensor is going to break again when you least expect it!
Putting a length of hose between the measuring port & sensor lets you mount the sensor properly. Other than that, looks good How is the 6spd working for you? I loved the ratios on my J160 (mine is from an IS200) but thats just about the only good thing I have to say about it Kajoba Works - TIG-welding & custom fabrication services http://www.kajobaworks.com http://www.facebook.com/kajobaworks +358458872222 |
