For those who don't know the following site:
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?...s-cI#gid=0

There you can "play" with your data and compare the different gearboxes.
You can adjust the max rpm to your shift point, your rolling circumference and you final drive.
The excel shows you on which rpm you will get to the next gear (gear change rpm) and what speed you coul reach at max rpm.
The higher the gear is (leads to: the fast you are) the higher should the gear change rpm be.

Here is another gear calculator that also does an automatically layed out chart for those who are more visually based. You can change the ratios, tires, redline, just about all variables can be modified. The link as it currently shows is 2 7500 rpm engines, one T50 with a 4.30, the other is the Y16M-D(Miata AZ6) using a 3.9. Go in and play with the variables. For example, In my car, I twist it to 8000 rpm, so that would be one variable I might change

Its kinda funny... and yet something I didn't recognize till just now*. This adapter should offer FAR more transmission options then a T50, or a W5x, or almost any other under $10,000 gearbox options. What do I mean....

Jesse - he wants the SXE10 version. He has done quite a bit of research and he likes the J160 (IS200/SXE10 option) the best. In chats with Jesse his thoughts are somewhat based on the J160's close ratios in 4th, 5th, and 6th gears. This allows an easier time reaching TOP speeds. Jesse can chime in to further explain...

Miura - he likes the S15 box because it fits his thoughts of low diff (4.5, 4.7 or even lower) and with the extreme 6th still be able to cruise the highway, or talk to someone while on the highway.

oldeskewltoy - I still like the Miata ratios the best. As I wrote in my original idea(back in 2006) for this transmission, to "fix" the problem Road & Track described about the AE86 back in Feb 1985....
Road&Track - Feb 1985 Wrote:The GT-S was a fraction slower**... ...there were times and places when the engines power couldn't be used... ...the jump from 2nd to 3rd is too wide and the jump from 4th to 5th isn't wide enough

** - commenting on a track day @ Willow Springs and comparing the GTS to the Mitsu Mirage Turbo -

For me, its obvious the Miata version is what I'm still hoping for. I do have a secondary motive too.... This will allow this to be even bigger if it allows a Miata owner Toyota power

* - Add in all the ratios that had been available... that includes TRD, and NISMO, as well as HKS made a set or two... I believe in gold(j/k) because they sell, or sold for about $10,000

S15 6 spd 3.626 2.200 1.541 1.213 1.000 0.767
NISMO 2.907 1.989 1.537 1.218 1.000 0.862
RX8 6 spd 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.187 1.000 0.843
Miata 6-spd 99- 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.257 1.000 0.843
SXE10 6 sp 3.874 2.175 1.484 1.223 1.000 0.869
TRD(33030-SE100) 3.106 2.175 1.585 1.223 1.000 0.869

I've already included a link, why not play with the gear ratios available and see which se up is best for you

ALL of us now have an option. As long as the LEEN adapter fits we all can have a soultion   Thumbs up!

Believe it or not.... Generation 3 has arrived! Tough to believe but LEEN has finished the 3rd production run on this, the newest version now fits ALL AZ6 transmissions.

Mazda MX5
Mazda RX8
Nissan Silvia GT-R
Toyota Altezza (3SGE)
Lexus IS200 (1G)

I recently was told that RX8* versions of the AZ6 are selling in the US for as little as $400... add our adapter, move your shifter hole back to about where mine is(see photos below)... and for under $2500 (LESS then the cost of a rebuilt T50 w TRD gears!) you can be rowing 6 speeds instead of 5....

RX8 6 spd... - 3.760 2.269 1.645 1.187 1.000 0.843
T50 OEM.... - 3.587 2.022 1.384 1.00 0.861
T50TRD1.... - 2.341 1.607 1.195 1.00 0.886 - (pricey set - about $2000)
T50TRD2.... - 2.630 1.891 1.384 1.00 0.861 - (cheaper set - about $1400)

Carthik @ C4AG Wrote:The 2nd gen S2000s have the same casing or a very similar casing as 1st gens unfortunately. Multiple sources state the S2000 uses a AZ6 from Aisin, maybe it's a different style one.

I've been looking into this and RX8 6 speeds are plentiful and very cheap. How similar/dissimilar is the RX8 6 speed from the J160?

Is it possible to install the gear lever kit on the RX8 gearbox?

RX8 gearbox seems like the best way to go for the North American market. They are as cheap as $400 USD on ebay buy it now.

Cheers,

Carthik

Here is where my shifter resides.... in my AE71....
