Linking digital dash to gearbox

Hi,

I have a AE86 with a CA18DET in it fitted by a previous owner.

Its a booted Trueno, Apex spec with the rare digital speedo and tachometer.

The previous owner never got round to fitting the speedo cable correctly onto the CA gearbox.

The CA gearbox is mechanical, while the digital dash is of course digital.

I have read a few bits of info about using a 280ZX speedo cable or gear drive to change the signal from mechanical to digital but no one is 100%.

Does anyone know/has anyone tried to get this to work? Would it be easier for me to get a mechanical dash instead?

Any help is much appreciated as I need this done ASAP.

Digital dash is digital, but it accepts cable as regular one.
Signal is transformed to square via reed switch.
It takes 637 rev for 1km.
Don't know about Nissan parts.

So I may be able to connect it straight up? Really need some help with this :/
