I made the decision to sell the yellow shell due to the bad parts at major structural points, ie A and B pillars, i would not have been happy with it, not before i secured another shell.
So, the guy he turned up in a van and i thought, wtf, he must be going to put it on its side... Oh, no i was wrong... Took the roof off, cut in half then cut the rear in half, in to the back of his van and gone.... ![]() ![]() ![]() Stop crying now..... It was beyond repair if we're honest as some people said... So, on to the new shell... How it started.. ![]() Made a start... ![]() Then this week i have the week off ![]() Then started to do the seam welding. ![]() Gusseted the front legs. ![]() ![]() More seam welding. ![]() The lip on the inside of the wheel arches removed and the seam welded from inside and out. ![]() A few chassis repairs were needed. ![]() Seamwelded the suspension mount and the panard rod tower. ![]() Due to the fact that its going to be used in all weathers she's now got a lovely coat of underseal. ![]() I've removed the wheel wells from both sides due to them not serving any purpose and give the remainder a coat of underseal. ![]() ![]() On top of pictures i've posted, i've had to repair both foot wells including chassis sections, same on the n/s/r wheel arch where it meets the floor .. All the pictures can be found here Sw33ps/Corolla - Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting Another day in the garage today, this time i attacked the passenger side rear chassis leg. As you can see by the first two pictures it has been repaired before but not very well so me bing a fussy bugger i repaired it again. ![]() ![]() :wack: :euge: :wack: ![]() Out came the grinder to remove all the crusty bits, leaving the point for the exhaust hanger. The section in my hand included the captive nuts for the hanger extended with a new peice of chassis leg. ![]() Welded in place. ![]() Another section of chassis leg over the top, this makes it bigger and able to take the towing bracket. ![]() Due to not being able to buy bent/curved sections i cut and shaped some angle. ![]() ![]() Same again on the other side and cut a another piece of steel to go on top. ![]() Then welded it on and put the bracket for the towing eyeback in place. ![]() A coat of underseal and she's all done. ![]() Just got the rear of the boot floor to do, a bit more seam welding at the front end, Building an AE86 from a pile of rust! ![]() Oh well, a lot of people already thought it was beyond repair. But you kept your faith in it. Must be painful to see someone cut up the work you just did on the shell. ![]() New shell looks much better btw! ![]() 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: ![]() |
