Camera is still stolen by robokill Wink

Anyways, tomorow is MOT time!! I'm a bit worried they will give me a hard time on my seatbelts. I haven't had the time to install the ones I got from JonT and I still need the bottom metal bits for the drivers side because the previous MOT guy welded that to my body work.

I did finally put the rear carpets in. Very happy with those indeed. I still need to put the new front carpet in, just haven't found the time...

Anyways, keep your fingers crossed for meSmile

CRAP!

I failed the MOT just now! The car was perfect, mechanic was very pleased with the car. But then he found some play in the steering. Turns out the lower U joint on the steering rod (the one connecting it with the horizontal bit of the steering, not sure how its called) has a tiny tiny little bit of play... So it needs to be replaced.

Now for the real shocking part, Toyota has quoted me 150 euros for the damn thing!!! Well I put down the order but if someone know a place where I can get them cheaper and within a week (MOT runs out start of next week so idealy I want to replace the joint this weekend and recheck after the weekend) then I probably can cancel the order if I know by today.

Damn this sucks ass!!

(still I am very happy the mechanic really approved of the rest of the car, you could see he really disliked having to fail it)

Sucks to hear that...you could try asking USN Centuri if they can get the joint for you...if they have it it will be cheaper for sure.

USN-Centuri Weversbaan 19 2352 BZ LEIDERDORP is the closest one to you (unless you prefer amsterdam).

I'll try calling their eindhoven office to check if they have the part later this afternoon.

150 euros.........

I must say, it does look way more solid then my tiny rusty one I have now.. Gonne see if I can swap it over tonight, or maybe tomorow.

Friday I go back to the MOT guy. I asked them today about an appointment, they said, when you put it on your car, drive by, we look at it, if tis good, you have MOT. So I guess they are not rechecking the car by muchSmile

I'll let you guys know if my steering really improves with this. I guess its one bit less of rust to worry aboutSmile

(one thing though, for 150 euros, you'd think they would include the two bolts that go with it....Wink )
