My AE86 racecar project

Hi Guys. I guess it’s about time I posted my project so here you are..

Unfortunately it turned out that the body was in worse condition then I first thought, so it was put a side in the back of the garage..
These pictures are from after I got it cleaned with a “high pressure steam-cleaner”:

This winter I then decided to use the car for a race car project where there would be a lot of welding on the body any way fore roll-cage, reinforcements and so on.
So just after Christmas I started repairing rust..










New original inner fenders and outer from a TE71..








And finally a roll-cage

Planned specifications:


Engine: Original at first.. only 0,8mm headgasket and maybe a VEMS-engine management system if I get spare time,
otherwise it will wait until I make another engine.

Transmission: Getrag close ratio gearbox from BMW E30 M3, 4.778:1 final drive.


Suspension: TRD, adjustable rear. Panhard with metal joints, later all rod ends will be made with metal joints.


Brakes:
Front: HiSpec 300x28mm disc, 4pot calibers.

Rear: 265x12mm disc, 2pot calibers.

Interior: Sparco Pro2000 seats, Sabelt 6-point seat belts.

What about the bellhousing? Do you have one which fits the A-series?

The car was painted back in April and I did start assemble it but haven't got much work don the last 1½ month due to missing parts and lack of time

I ment to post these pictures back en March but enver realy got to it I got many more newer pictures on an other computer so as soon as I get them uploaded I'll drop some here, see you

Is the cage bought or is it custom ?

Sorry, I'm not sure what you mean.. are you thinking of that I called "inner fenders" ?

The guy i bought the pipes of made the bends on the main- and side- "bows", the rest is custom.
