257 (some data leads to 258)mm diameter.
Definitely must remove dust covers and use different/relocate original rear calipers. |

I got the fuel tank of my donor-car and cleaned with a "high pressure steam cleaner", and once again rust!
That's the third one This one is the best of the three i got, so I'll see if it's possible to get it repaired.. is it possible? A perfect condition tank imported from Japan is +200EUR, and the "donor-car" is hopefully also gonna need a fuel tank again some time  |

I think a rustfree tank is hard to find. My experience is that the area around the gastank is always very rusted, as well as the tank itself.

Firstly, nice project.
Now, the fuel tank can be welded, but it needs to be free of fuel vapour. So it needs to be cleaned. There are places which specialise in welding fuel tanks, they clean them, weld them, paint them...you can also clean it yourself, and just weld up any holes. I was looking for a super clean rust free fuel tank too... couldnt find one, then one day saw a add, guy had some spares for sale and I got a tank off him... still needs some work to avoid it having holes in the future, as it has some surface rust. Good luck. Always remember: Rev it till it blows, then back off a bit... Zenkis - Orange, Red/Black, Silver/Black, Maroon/Blue Koukis - Red, Silver/Gray, |
