Sorry wasn't very clear worded. It can be removed but won't look pretty.
You could remove it and either make sure that the water can drain or reseal it to prevent water from getting trapped. Before putting it back on. AE86 ex-daily |

On my old car I removed the trims and filled the holes. It didn't look very good, but it still looked better than having rusted arches.
One alternative I can offer is to remove the trims, clean everything thoroughly and then pack as much Waxoyl as possible onto the arches before refitting the trims. |
