New and odd fuel gauge/light issue.
Okay, I've been aware of the strange fuel gauge issues in the AE86 for as long as I've owned my car (full tank shows empty, works it's way up to half and back down again) but I've always been able to rely on my fuel light until last week.
After I put 15 litres in my car when the light started fading in and out, the light went completely solid and had remained solid even after putting in another 20 litres. I decided yesterday to have a look at the float in the tank in case it was stuck or something. When removing it from the tank it seemed normal and the gauge would move up and down when moving the float by hand, but the light remained solid. Now after putting the gauge back in, the light is faded and the gauge hovers up and down between empty and quarter of a tank I'm guessing the problem is with the float/switch? Unless anyone else has any other ideas on where else I could look? If not, would it be worth just buying a new float? TIA |
