I was looking at the dyno comparison graph you posted, and it said the 20V had just about as much torque except for a small part of the rpm band as the 7age? Could that be right?

Yes, torque is pretty much the same on both engines. Don't forget, the 20V wasn't stock! And the 20V's have VVT wich gives you some torque in the lower rev band

Very small update, messed with the interior a bit. Fabbed some panels to divide the boot from the cabin. Car must have had some really big speakers in it's early life Huh

Cleaned up the cockpit a bit, removed unnecessary stuff, switches the gearknob, fitted a TRD horn button (adds at least 7-8hp), ...

So for now all I do is waiting for my gearbox to finish. Getting all synch's bearings, gaskets replaced Hurray!

Hi, I ditched the S2000 plan, the only way to do it right is cutting up the whole tranny tunnel and to don't use spacers at all. The purpose of my car is grip driving and a bit of fun at the weekends, and by lowering the engine sub frame, you'll mess up the front axle geometry to much. Even real big RCA's won't cure it 100% And I really don't wanna cut up half of my car. I'm not a purist, but I don't want to ruin a good car. So I'll stay with the good ol Toyota engine. Planning on building an +180hp 7AGE at the moment.

I'll have to check for the pic, just give me a bit of time
Edit: Here it is in the biggest version I have right now:

Nomuken, you could consider looking at a Ford Duratec as an alternative. They make around 200bhp after you add throttle bodies and and an exhaust and are similar in weight to a 20V (vs the F20C which is 30-40kg heavier). Its a pretty tall engine, but worth considering.

You can connect it to a MX5 NC 6speed tranny (same as Beams altezza/F20C) or buy a conversion bell and go with the sierra transmission. These are relatively small and might fit without hackwork.

Most importantly they are cheap..crate engines for the price of used F20Cs with money left over for the throttle bodies and 4 branch exhaust.

Also F20C might fit with a sierra box/no spacers etc, but unsure what the ratio's would end up at.

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

Don't want no sierra box, still 5 speed.
A niceley stepepd 6speed would be fancy.
But after all I'm planning on a version II of my 7AGE build (aiming for +180hp that are completely streetable).

And I got my T50 completely rebuild last week. All synchro's and all bearings are now brand spanking new :-)

So I guess I'll just stay with small Toyota engines for the next months Hurray!

And some more. New gauges to replace the old ones, new oil cooler to replace the OEM one and new header to replace the TRD one:
