Oil Temp Gauge

Hi there,

Do you guys know what is the best option to install the oil temp gauge sensor?
What are you using to monitor your oil temp?

I have heard of a sensor that replaces the "oil pan plug" and do the reading from there; do you guys know anything about that?

oil pan plug is a very common one. Rather use an adapter on your oil filter spot and stuck it in the adapter. You can use the dome power to get it on and the sensor has the wires to transmit its data to the meter.

The best place to pit it, is where the oilpressure sensor is, you can set it up with a T-piece. i think the best gauge is a Non elecktric one.

How do you want to measure oil temperature non-electrically?
Nothing wrong with the accuracy...and it only takes 2 wires to the sensor.
I've put a temp sensor in my oil drain plug once, but it broke. It's an easy method, but it's not very practical with oil changes and the wires tend to stick out downward for the first centimeters where they are exposed to the elements. Either use an adapter on the oil filter bracket or oil pressure sender, or just have a piece of metal welded to the oil pan and tap a hole in there (which would be the best place, because it measures the oil right where it should.)

There are capilliary type oil temp gauges though I'd have thought this leads to false readings as the temp of the oil in the capilliary will be lower than that in the engine.

I would just stick to electrical ones...but maybe he meant an analog gauge. Which I prefer as well..
