Oil cooler woes
After hooking up the oil cooler I found that the thermostatic adapter is just a little to big and wont seal. Until I find one the right size i'd like to get it up and running. I have another non thermostatic aparter that will work so my question to those in the know (bearing in mind that the health of my engine is at stake). Would it be better to run no oil cooler or an oil cooler with no thermostat?

if you have a gauge have a look at the temps... if it's cooling a tad too much you still have the option to wrap it up or put some cardboard in front of it to limit airflow - that's what we do in winter

Assuming you are running an aftermarket full flow plate from the block, and it isn't a race car, run without an oil cooler. A lot of markets never had it as standard. And those that did had a fairly restrictive factory plate.
Better to have hot oil than cold oil. |

holland has oil coolers. Have to say its not that restrictive. Its right infront of the air gaps in the bumper. And trust me you can still get it pretty hot.
Thinik it also depends on which oil u use. Cars: "99 Lexus IS200 "86 AE86 Kouki Panda Levin GT-Apex (restore project) "84 AE86 Zenki Blue Levin (project racer) Motorcycles: "02 Yamaha R1 "02 Honda Hornet S "08 BMW R1200GS |

No, I am referring to the take off plate as restrictive, not the cooler matrix.
