Problems with Idle
Best to check/eliminate the most common cause, before you go chasing
other possibilities. Take the air intake ducting off the engine so you can see the throttle butterfly. Run the engine, and when the idle is hunting up and down, cover the idleup valve port with your finger (its the large hole at the bottom on the inside of the throttle body, close to the butterfly). If the hunting stops, and the idle drops to some lower and constant rpm, then the idleup valve is at fault, and needs replacing. If the hunting does not stop, then the cause is something else Note that there is a second large port higher up inside the throttle body that vents crankcase fumes, and a small port for the idle speed adjusting screw. Neither of these is connected with the idleup valve. Cheers... jondee86 The reasonable man adapts himself to the world; the unreasonable one persists in trying to adapt the world to himself. Therefore, all progress depends on the unreasonable man. |
