This AE86 runs a 20V Blacktop. It's totally blueprinted and has Toda Racing In 272 and Ex 288 cams with 9.8mm of lift. Pistons are also Toda Racing high compression items. ECU is "Freedom". It runs open ITB's too of course. The has a TRD close ratio gearbox (1st 3 speeds) with a TRD 2 way diff, TRD suspension and lots more. It's putting out around 200-220 bhp. Apparently this car's cost over 10,000,000 Yen to build, though it's like brand new.

I still think there's a bigger chance that what they say in the touge showdown round 3 vid is true and that he's going 5-ag...he's even saying it himself...

It already has a 5 Valve (5AGE engine). I doubt the rumour's true, as Tsuchiya would know full well a turbo would add a fair amount of weight to the front, which tends to upset the car's balance for drifting. A turbo also muffles the sound of the engine and there would be no throttle bodies to make the glorious sound this car makes, maximum revs would most likely be reduced too.

Rumours aren't always fact. Are there any pictures of the conversion?

It's possible, but unlikely, I think. Surprised to see a wing on the back of an FRP rear spoiler, as unless it's heavily braced inside it'll wobble like Pamela Anderson when running!

they upgraded teh intake cam to a 288 and remapped the ecu, the wing is to keep it stable in the fast twisties the got for the touge segment (and the do some serious speed through there) and from what i watched the 5a-ge is planned for if he gets beat again

You of all people should be aware that a 5a-ge is a stroker kit consisting of a crank and conrods.. But really guys...watch touge showdown round 3 and find out for yourselves why he uses that big wing and what he plans to do with his engine.. I'm sorry to say that I couldnt find any living link to the vid yesterday...but there are torrents for the entire best motoring episode out there somewhere..

yes i highly doubt he would put turbo in it. i dont see any good reasons. The man's old, and he wants to be takumi. so any turbos are out of the question. + i dont see how a turbo hachiroku can be faster on a downhill than nicely balanced, w/ a litlle less powerful but almost race NA engine.

i did , he commented that the car felt more stable at high speeds which was what he wanted but the car was still too slow (it couldnt keep up with the miata and civic )so 5age planned if he get beaten again after sakurai does some more work on the engine
