Propshaft options
I've been poking around under my car lately, as I'm getting a few drivetrain vibrations since I installed my TRD engine mounts and I wanted to see what I could do to calm it down.
When looking at my propshaft, it looks like the centre bearing (or the rubber bushing around it) is on the way out or knackered, since there is a fair amount of free play in it. It seems logical this is one of the causes for vibrations, since it happens from 2500rpm up to about 4000rpm. I'm wondering what the best course of action might be? I've heard that the centre bearing is either not that easy to obtain or replace and it would be worth replacing the whole prop itself. Looking around though, the only example I can see to buy that has a decent write up is from Max at Illegal Garage. Would there be any other options I should look at? And how easy is it to get one fabricated? |
