Q, BMW E30/E36 front struts for a fit?
Is it possible to fit front struts on a ae86, I come from sweden and we nor have ae86 or te71 and I am looking for an upgrade on a ke70.

I have searched and no luck. And I have read about the s13 way and many complain about it so now its the BMW way. Does anyone know anything ?

Highly appreciated.

Same story as S13 stuff. Can you get it to fit, jup. Can you get it to work? Difficult to nearly impossible if you're not a gifted fabricator and suspension engineer.

In the end, any strut/coilover can be made to work by making sure it doesn't move much. See all the popular AE86 setups (8/6) where 75% of the suspension compliance comes from the unibody and tires flexing.

Do you know the strut diameter of the KE struts? If its the same as earlier KE models you can go DIY coilover with some ebay coilover sleeves and MR2 AW11-mk1 (there are 2 types of AW11 ! ) rear koni shock obsorbers. These are shortstroke in the KE housings (that need to be shortened just like the AE86 ones).

A wheel to steer the front of the car
A pedal to steer the rear

I can fabricate the most Wink
it is the old struts not the ae86 thick ones. I will check up for that.
But I wanted to see if someone had done it before, and cuz I want better brakes than the standard ones.
thanks

early ke70 models have smaller strut diameter than the ae86 or late ke70s. therefore you cant simply insert the popular ae86 short stroke shocks. you need to make a larger diameter strut out of the original ke70 strut, or switch to ae86 strut.
i have done both,
converting the oem strut to large diamter tube and fit ae92 shocks in there with 33mm spacer at the bottom (no other way). this was done for my daily ke70 wagon. works well.
i did an ae86 strut swap and coilover build for a ke70 coupe driftcar, shortened ae86 strut casing, no spacer at the bottom, ae92 front damper. the car is very low this way and having shitload of suspension travel, about 85% of the whole damper stroke.
