Quote:The engine is a 1700cc featuring Arrow crank, Carillo rods, JE pistons, VERY large valves, a unique intake system with 8 injectors, dry sumped, Pectel T6 ecu and big cams. The engine was originally built by CES in Buckingham but subsequently developed in conjunction with them. Despite being tuned down it makes around 225BHP and 145ft lb. Fit larger exhaust valves and change the cam timing and there will be another 10BHP+ to play with. It is good for around 10,000RPM but not really worth taking over 9,000 because torque is so good. And it only gets better... Bargain! Now why would anyone sell such an astonishing car? 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Yes when you look at the spec. it really is a bargain when you consider the gearbox and axle.
Why is it being sold ? Guessing because there is no race series that it can be competitive in ? I'm looking at racing my '86 next year with a view to getting an ARDS instructor licence and the only championship where my particular car stands any chance of being competitive is a Japanese only series with power and weight limits, specifically 960kg (with driver) and 150fwhp I think the next jump is to 200fwhp then 250 and finally 300 with appropriate weights. I sat in the car you have to be a small double jointed ferret to weave through the roll bar and into the driver’s seat which would need changing for a large frame person
Luckily I fit the criteria above My ambition is to run the car at the Hachi Roku Fest but we will see |

ditn Wrote:Did you buy it? ,nice Yes parts would have been a shame a lot of nice R32GTRs go that way as not many want to spend 30k on a old car. But it did not and is a very nice car but not one that can be put on the road as has a plexi glass front screen and no glass on the headlamps but I may fit these later and drive on the road although straight cut gearbox may hurt my ears |

Hey congrats mate, I was sorely tempted when the price dropped.
Definate bargain and I kind of feel a bit sorry for the seller as it must have broke his heart to see it go. An analogue brain in a digital World |

A really nice chap and the car is what it was said to be in the advert and more
I suspect it was more a case of he had the car for many years and needed to move on otherwise he would have spent more money and time racing and improving it further if that is possible. A big advert but things like doors Bonnet Tailgate N2 arches are made of Carbon Kevlar, not fibre glass show attention to detail Light weight steering shaft would not have thought of that |
