Reving/Idle Problem???

the car starts in a shot and idles perfect, but when i try to rev the car it splutters and missfires and is not responsive in any way?

is the timing slightly out or do i have another problem?

thanks in advance

Number 1 cylinder at TDC on compression stroke.
Crank timing pulley at zero degrees.
Dimples on the rim of the cam pulleys lined with marks on backing plate.
Knock pin on intake cam at 12 o'clock.
Knock pin on exhaust cam at 5 o'clock.

Bit of slop in the throttle plate spindle bearings... no big deal. Might make
it difficult to hold a perfect idle.

At 8.35 lift cams, you right in no-man's land. Some say it's safe, and
others say no way. You are close to the limit, so I would say get some
TRD or HKS springs. That way you know you are safe, and have new
springs that will run an extra 1000 rpm or so above stock springs. There
is no other problem in running those cams.

Reving/Idle Problem???
when i shake the throttle body pulley, it is very loose and moves the tps side, could a leak of air through here be a fault?

Try another throttle body. Opening the throttle is a much bigger air leak
than you will ever get thru the spindle bearing, but the TPS could be
forked internally.

Did you take the cam pulleys off the cams when you worked on the head ?
If you did... have you checked the position of the knock pins (those pegs
in the end of the cam that go into the slots in the cam pulleys) ??

When you remove throttle it's good to:

1) Replace 2 seals on the butterfly shaft to prevent false air coming in and reduce shaft vibrations. I think I manage to find 15/9 seals, the original is 15/10 (as far as I remember, better mesure it first) and it’s very hard to find. Put some grease during replacement.
2) Inspect throttle plate and shaft from wear and sharp edges (usually occurs on plate sides and cause "sticky" throttle feel). Carefully remove sharp edges (if there is any).

Fun is not the straight line!
