Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
Hi im thinking of rebuilding just the bottom end, since it seems mj bearings have developed a little space and pinging sound can be heard. i dunno if that could be because i used semi-synt 10w40 castrol TXT. Maybe the previous owner used mineral oils. Could that be it?
So where can i get rod bearings the cheapest? and also interested in sump-gasket? tnx, saš |

Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
Cheap ones are "TAIHO" (up to 40EU rod&crank).
AFAIK the Clevite 77 brand are very good ones too - another option is original Toyota (rumours that they are made by Clevite, but also rumours that they are TAIHO-made also). I bought sump gasket when I bought full gasket set ("RIKEN" brand, 35EU). If you buy the full gasket set - you can replace all old rubber gaskets at once - this is a smart investment I think. I rebuilt my Honda using "RIKEN" and 20 000kms later I'm yet satisfied. |

Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
I bought all stuff from local stores - so I cannot provide links.
Check http://www.google.com in your country for importers of Clevite and RIKEN - for example ? The "Clevite 77" is brand for reinforced "racing type" bearings. Yes, the RIKEN set is full one - head, bottom end and exhaust gaskets (even the two "ring" ones of 4-2-1 design), valve stem rubbers. Very cheap - 35EU here. If I buy all these separate (the same brand) - I must pay ~2.5X more :-) PS:The original Toyota head gasket is ~40EU here - for comparation. |

Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
Man, I even expected that this kit will not work. But now I have 20 000 km test in Honda small engine. This is a cheap way - I don't know is it robust enough for tuned 4AGE engine - time will tell (for me).

Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
I would recommend you to buy original toyota bearing.. The price is so low ( i gave 15E a piece for conrod bearings) that it would be stupid to buy aftermarket stuff that wont last anyways.

Rod-crank bearings? where to buy?
The 15E was for a complete bearing... You have to consider the quality, not just the price. A cheap bearing that fails, will damage the crank...and you dont want that
