Silver Top Question
hey guys,
I might get lucky and get a Silvertop motor this weekend. I'm wondering.. What are its pros and cons compared to the Blacktop? Does it have better tunning potential? Why's everyone wanting a BT? Thanks guys, Heshan. Cheated on my いたずらな女の子 and now I can't get enough of her.. |

Silver Top Question
BT vs Silvertop is the same as Smallport vs bigport comparison. The blacktop is the last one in the 4AGE development iteration, so basically the most/best developed engine of the 4AGE line.
The Blacktop has only a few hp more than the Silvertop, mainly due to higher compression (11:1 instead of 10.5:1), larger throttle bodies and higher lift cams. So on paper it is a better engine, but I wouldn't know how much difference it makes for tuning potential... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

Silver Top Question
We have some silvertops and blacktops aswell here in Hungary. There are significant difference! Silvertops dynoed 140-145hp and the blacktops are 155. I'd advise the silvertop only because its very reliable, not like the old 40/18mm crankshaft engines. Otherways, a well built smallport engine almost can compete against a silvertop..

Silver Top Question
thanks mate. yes this I've heard as well and read on the famous Tuning potential tute the 16V engines can be tuned to be more powerful than the 20V ones..
I also know that the T50 can be a direct fit to the ST. But can someone confirm this? Is there absolutely nothing I need to do when it comes to putting the ST on my Panda? Cheated on my いたずらな女の子 and now I can't get enough of her.. |

Silver Top Question
You'll need to adjust the water piping and the distributor will hit the firewall, so either modify the distributor or the firewall.

or you can use aftermarket ecu and ignition to save your firewall. you need to change the inlet too or use open throttle boedies but then you need to raise fuel (ideally tell aftermarket ecu)
this topic is interested to read to, using honda coil on plugs with original ecu: http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=18900&page=3 |
