Springs and shocks
Could someone give me some advise for spring/shocks that lowed my hachi about 2 or 3 cm. I am looking for springs that confortable for daily drive hachi (this mean no need those springs for race/drift)
Price would be about 100 - 250 euro for 4 springs. Brand/type/part number would be very please. And for shocks price does not matter. But please resonable one and confortable. This not mean that I would buy now, I need to save for it and hope before summer I can buy those. Thanks p/s: Please excuse error gramma/typo for my english. |

Hi, couldnt understand almost anything but APEX are cheap and not too harsh, those lower your car 3cm or 30mm and cost me 140€ here in Portugal. (just to clear the 30cm or 30mm issue, if it was a joke i apologize )

Best order some tokico blues to go with those springs..they are pretty cheap and a tremendous improvement. Running more springrate on the stock units will wear them out more quickly and cuase them to spend much time on either the bumpstops or the droopstop..bad. Also driving an underdampened car can be dangerous with possibly uncontrolled bodymovements during fast transitions..
So just order the entire set for between 200 and 300 euro...it will be worth it though, makes a very nice and streetable setup. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Buy your self coilovers. Don’t waist your time and money with progressive one. Stock shocks length is to long for any kind of decent set of springs, especially if you want to lower your car. You can keep it as a winter set up. But for summer time go for coilovers.

max,
Going coilovers, especially short stroke is alot of work. Definately a must if you want to do serious lowering or have interest in racing/drifting, but if I understood oldskool correctly when I talked to him, his interest is in getting a replacement for his aging suspention that feels a bit more sporty. Lowering the car a bit is just for the improved looks. With just a 30mm drop new quality shocks with a nice apex set will do more then fine for the type of use intended. When I bought my car it had the APEX springs and KONIs set to the lowest setting. I was very pleased with the way my car handled on the road. It wasn't until I started doing some serious track driving that I figured the car was in much need to be improved. But for normal road driving it is more then enough. APEX with Tokico blue sounds like the best buy to me if you just want a slightly lowered better then stock daily driver. It won't brake the bank (its atleast 4x cheaper then a good coilover/shortstroke conversion) and give you a comfortable sporty ride. I wouldn't go for KONIs unless you like spending money. KONIs (or other adjustable shocks) are a must when you want to do track driving but then I would always go short stroke and get the KONIs adjustable on car. Thats my end goal in a few years for my suspention but its total overkill for oldskool. Greetz, Bastiaan "mux213" Olij Moved down under, no more hachi |

Mux213,
Do you know any type (manufacturer) of springs, stiffer than stock but with original ride height? I just want them little stiffer then stock, for approximately 30%, but with normal raid height, not to mess up with suspension geometry. I couldn’t find them on internet. Fun is not the straight line! |
