Street Tires - your choice?
Hi,
since i'm in the market for buying new tires, it'd be nice to hear from you guys, what you're driving on. Talk dimension and brand of the tire. I have original 14x6 wheels, so im planing on using 185/60 14 or 195/60 14. What do you think? pros/cons. And regarding the actual brand of the tire - i have no idea what to buy now. I plan on buying something along the lines of the RE720, but since they no longer produce it, what might be the best next thing? I would like a sporty tire, predictable and little flex. The brute grip is not so important. So what do you run, what would you reccomend? Best regards, sašo |

i heard good things about Yokohama A539, but haven't driven on mine long enough to make a verdict
D.Wars will say they suck, but he bought a set wich where allready very worn, so he must stay quiet "It's all about the heart, the people who focus on parts, turbo's and all that stuff...they're just losers." -Shinji Minowa |

I'm hearing very good things about the new asymetrical Goodyear Eagle F1's. And then after that there's alwasy the old favourites, Toyo T1-S's and the older F1 Goodyears, the DSG3's. Used both on various cars, loved them.

Absolutly the best tires I've seen in my life These are 195/60 14 Yoko's A539 Only con about these is that they turn the car un-driftable when the tires are new, no make sure you wear some old crappy tires on the back if you drift |

ok so let me evolve the question a bit. Which tires are cheap but have sporty properties. I don't so much care about absolute grip, rather than firmnes and predictability.
What about Falken Ziex ze-512 and ze-912? |

Not sure what is available in Europe... but I've had pretty good service from Kumho.
The first set were the Supra 712 model, the 712 has a VERY hard sidewall, the biggest minus for me was the tread would get flat spotted overnight causing a bit of disturbance the following morning till the tire warmed and go round again. and now I'm running on the Kumho SPT. My size is 195/50/15. No such problems(flat spotting) SO far with this one. The sidewall is a bit more compliant, but still very quick. Again... I'm not sure what is available in Europe... but to expand your choices a 15" wheel will allow you many more options Dan - You can | .... OR you can ask for help!!!
