That's just something GGTyler (guy behind T3) said to me when i ordered front coilover kit.
Btw. for what i've seen, track usage recommendations are TRD and HTS or harder setups from Tein/Greddy. No Konis, Bilstein or KYB. People use many differenet cheap coilovers like D2/kSport/BC/... but i've seen too many problems with them. So i went HTS... |

Ah ok, I hope it works with the HTS! I have read on a forum of one guy using them (just googles it). I prefer the full coilover setup, so that takes out the Tein or Greddy options, and wouldnt use D2/G4/BC etc on a track car personally. I wonder if TRD shocks could be used in the rear coilover kit if HTS cant?

drako323 Wrote:The longer springs at the same spring rate and ride height will only change the position of the adjustable bottom spring hat. The fact that the spring will disengage at rebound will not change... Unless you use a very soft spring that will require pre tensioning to keep the ride height setting. (like stock) I have the following: AGX rear suspension stroke = 120mm 4.5kg, 267mm rear spring Deflection at static height = 57mm (so need 3mm preload) = 79% Deflection at 1G lateral acceleration = 120mm = 55% That's without sway bars, I add sway bar rate for tires that allow more then 1G. So just 3mm pre load and suspension stays within its range for most dynamic loads. Also the spring stays within the operational range of the spring as given by Eibach. Its a matter of calculating the correct rates and lengths for you application. By the way @4000gt, shock towers are not reinforced. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

Ah ok, good to know NoHachi. You recommend the HTS, do you have any information on HTS or TRD or Koni being able to be used on the front and rear T3 coilover setup?

Maybe a handful of people on the planet, most of which don't speak english and don't frequent web forums (sadly..we could learn a lot). I can guarantee you that you would be seeing a lot of Bilstein and Koni usage amongst track users..just not necessarily the off the shelft products. TRD is also good (probably - never tried), but you won't see much Tein/Greddy etc. (I did not include drift usage that focusses on the opposite of grip) Could anyone with rear HTS make a measurement of the shock body diameter? And maybe some pics? Should be easy to see how difficult it is to switch from AGX coilovers to HTS..Don't expect any problems. A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

All inserts will drop right into the front coilover..would need to know body diameters for the rear. The shocks have to fit inside the Ground Control coilover sleeve and also suit the clamp (weird system, but seems to work). So someone whip out your vernier calliper and measure some A wheel to steer the front of the car A pedal to steer the rear |

PS plus one on NoHachi, I spend a wee bit of time at the track and most use Bilstein custom valved shocks, especially for rally.

Yeah I did notice that clamp system, not a huge amount of belief in it on general principle, but as you say, no issue. So really we are saying a shock diameter thats identical to the sleeve kit and comparable length and stroke, and we are rocking. |

I agree with you, with remark that i never meant serious track use, just people wanting a car that is in their opinion stiff (in this case) enough for track use. I'm sure that advanced, or as you said serious users modify their shocks but as much as i know that is out of reach for most of us so I'm focused on shock as they come from factory/store. In that case i haven't heard of anybody who uses Bilsteins (which are longstroke for first) and just few Konis. Rally is not track, at least that's the way i see it. I'm sure that both Konis and Bilsteins are in hand of good driver enough to beat average driver on TRD/HTS but that's not an issue. People go SS when they have track in mind, even if that's just track day once a month .. So, everything will do the job, but in my opinion for amateurs HTS and TRD are best choice. I mentioned Teins/Greedy/etc. just as an alternative for full coilovers if HTS can't be used on the rear. |
