Over heating issues
Hey guys
OK so the first drive I took with this car the radiator exploded Then got the radiator repaired and installed Cleaned out the pipes and noticed no thermostat so left it out It's got the stock fan but no cowling If the car idles no issue but when I drive for more then 4km it get hot and really hot. I flushed the system, looks like the waterpump is flowing can see the water movement in the radiator and both pipes from rad are warm and stiff What's the thoughts Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk |

Considering the car is overheating already the thermostat won't help... got to be something else...

Do you have a proper radiator cap that pressurizes the system? Or is there an open connection to the overflow bottle?
Also did you properly de-air the system after refilling? AE86 Levin |

How stiff are the water tubes? Sounds like a possible headgasket / cracked head block issue.
There's a reason someone took out the thermostat, most likely to temporarily cover up overheating issues. FABRICA MI DIEM, PVNC! |

Hey guys will go through now what iv done to date
Water pump flowing No water in oil or oil in water, no smoke Bled the system correctly Cap on radiator is functioning Did a pressure test on the system then took the spark plugs out and cranked the car no water coming out there So I have ordered a thermostat Going to install that, if no luck I'm going to connect up the electric fan and see, if still no luck I'm parking the car off for a while Sent from my F3111 using Tapatalk |

What kind of set-up are you running? Oem engine, oem radiator etc? Oem bumpers? (Because of airflow)
Also could it be running lean? I know this causes higher exhaust temps but not sure to what extent this has an effect on the temp during idling. AE86 Levin |

Does your car still have the automatic transmission installed?
On my Carina I have the A40 automatic transmission that uses the radiator to cool the transmission oil as well. It could be the case that the combination of both is too much for yours. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
