it doesn't make a difference on what you described but on how the car feels to drive. As said by fitting a shorter final drive (4.7+) yuo increase torque at the wheels and reduce top speed

Now with the right final drive 3rd goes from 115kph to 160kph.
With the 4,3 3rd tries to pull from 155 to 210 which will take forever due all the occuring drag. Yes on the diagram it is the same but, revs will pick up even slower, making it fell bad. it will take the same time as a stock AE86

I supose these diagrams were made with a 16v engine? This AE is running stock 20v without bottom end torque, compared to my 16V. I blame the missing airbox and short velocity stacks, which makes it worse cause unless you are past 5k 5.5k nothing is happening.sorry to here your engine is not tuned for the street, if you want low end torque fit a V8 Tongue

my probelm its just as it goes nicely in the first gears and than you throw in 4th and think WTF is this sh**?no offense but you seem to me, to be a victim of the 20V hype - yes you get ITBs and sound and JDM tight yo - but in the end all you gain is a mere 10Nm up high in stock form, if you're lucky (this is out of the box, no tuning). They are no rockets

Well I understand its a bit too much "I feel" guesswork here, so I´ll gather more info of this, unfortunatly it runs a fancy instrument with no speedo and since I looked at the engine wireing, i don´t exactly trust the tacho either. but yeah I´ll try.

use a TomTom orr other navi for the speed and match it to any rev on your fancy instruments, as long as it's the same rev it's good

might come a bit late but still valuable info in there.
My recommendation, if you still have the OEM stacks, fit them! if you can make the airbox work, fit it too.

And don't worry it's all fixable with the right approach. I've gone through countless discussions with many people, exactly on that problem: tuning and engine and neglecting how it will be used to optimize driveability.
This is not a AE86 or 4AGE issue this is a general one I utterly despise after more than 10 years of dealing with it.

All in all sorry for the rant/teacheresque like post. give us some more details (dyno run would be best but we can work it out with your feel too) and I'm sure the community and I will be able to improve your situation.

Look at the drop of revs with 5.3 and 4.3 between gears. Same.
Speed is different, that's up to final drive.

And that is certainly isn't 33030-AE851.
Nothigs specific about it, standard gearset aimed for racing with long 1st and close 1>2>3>4>5.

OEM gearbox, shifting @ 8000 [u:78bb0652f6]if you don't loose speed[/u:78bb0652f6]:
1->2: 4510rpm
2->3: 5476rpm
3->4: 5780rpm
4->5: 6888rpm

Same thing but with TRD AE851:
1->2: 5752rpm
2->3: 5855rpm
3->4: 5780rpm
4->5: 6888rpm

Same thing but with TRD AE811:
1->2: 5492rpm
2->3: 5949rpm
3->4: 6695rpm
4->5: 7088rpm
