TRD Short Shifter Rattle Noise, It's Normal?

Hi to all, just one week ago I mounted a new TRD Short Shifter kit.
When I arrive at 5000 RPM in any gear, from T50 coming out a rattle noise.
It's Normal?

If it's the shifter rattling then you might need a new bushing on the bottom of it....

IIRC the TRD shifter doesn't have any bushings inside the assembly. The shift lever pivots on the casting. It's supposed to provide a more direct feel at the expense of nvh. I've never had one but from what I understand they're known to rattle.

There is supposed to be a bushing around the little ball at the end of the gear lever where it slots into the gearbox. It's an OEM part which is often worn out, causing the shifter to have too much slack.
I think T3 even made delrin replacement bushings for it.

ok, I tryed to mount the cusco bushing kit, the rattle noise it's reduced, but it exist.
I read on the web that a solution maybe a Shift knob heavier?

I've been successful using foam rubber packed inside the shifter boot. You could also try adding solder warped around the shift lever. [ at the top] Keep adding more until you change the natural frequency, of the lever. If that works, then you should try finding a shift knob with approximately the same additional wt. Dave W

Yes, it's normal, that's why I installed one and removed the day after... Too much race environment for me.

I think that the TRD Short Shifter It's not for daily use..... for now I leave it installed until I'm going crazy for rattle noise

TRD shifter stripped of all extra weight for racing...


C's short shifter reputed to be the best AE86 shifter money can buy...

... and the C's shifter does not rattle
