TRUENO - LHD headlight solutions
Hi everyone,

Time for a new thread! This time i'm strugling with the Trueno Headlights.

I've always wanted the Raybrig's but since they're only for RHD i would fail MOT because of the beam direction. So i've searched other solutions....
Regarding the AE86 there's basically no information, as the Trueno is more common for the RHD configuration..... Still the research had to be done....

I've found some curious threads on the MR2 and S13 forums where they also discuss this issue..... Truth to be told, the headlight are kinda "universal" and everything is compatible...... With that i came to a conclusion.

There are only two brands worth of investigating, the Cibie and the Hella.

Both are H4 bulbs compatible! Which is a great note but on the other hand they'e pretty much RARE......

I've been trying to figure out how to contact CIBIE in Europe but it seems that there is no website or contact that i can use in order to get some info on this headlamps.....

I'm now asking for help on this matter, trying to figure out if these still can be purchased!

Thank you
pack

I fitted my Trueno with the OEM headlights from the MA70 Supra. AW11 would also fit. No idea about clear headlights though, but there would be options in the US market. No idea if you might need ECE conforming projectors.

Both Hella and Cibie are Euro certified.

Cibie's model is called the "E code" in the US for some reason... Wink

Problem is.... can't find anyone selling Cibie!

Indeed the Trueno headlights are of the common 5x7" type. Found on old models of the same era, from chevy vans to jeep wranglers to mazda rx7's to toyota hiace / hilux to ke70's...and many more.
It's practically the most common headlight in the world still today Smile

Hella & Cibie are probably the most expensive ones that you can find. No idea of their quality nowadays though...

This might be a bit daft but why not just buy some genuine headlights from the US 86?

Genuine US spec are sealed beam, Hella's are H4 compatible, big advantage if you ask me.

I think it's the 7x6 version that you need. They can be found pretty cheaply IIRC.

Hey alimonos!

I have some references from VALEO and Koito (the OEM headlights for Toyota) that you can search!

Here it goes!

Valeo 082462 (without parking light)
Valeo 082464 (with parking light).

KOITO - 90981-04009 Genuine Toyota

Oh just another update, there is no diference between LS (left side) or RS (right side) headlights... they are switchable!

Regards!

These are found on the AW11, the MA70, probably earlier Supras, same period Celicas (AA63 and maybe ST16, don't know), around 90s Hilux and Hiace and probably a couple others. Most US cars with popups had these as well as most other Japanese cars with popups.
