4A-GE bellhousing on a 20 spline T50
Who has done this and has some actual information about it?

Maybe my google skills are lacking a bit, but i can't find anything else then: you need a spacer, google for it.

I know the 20 spline will probably shit itself behind a 4A-GE, but i guess the U-code 6" diff will do it before the box and i need the swap done and dusted as quickly as possibly, so i want to use the 20 spline T50 which is in the car now.

I also know it would be easy to see and measure when both boxes are sitting next to eachother, but like i said, i need this swap done in a small amount of time, so it would be nice if i can arrange all parts to do it quickly before i start taking my precious apart Smile

Never did it and don't know nothing about it... BUT, I think that this is
the spacer you require (pic of GTS vs SR5 tranny)...

Apparently the earlier versions of the T-50 had a smaller (thinner ?) input
shaft bearing, and the spacer was to make up the difference. Otherwise
AFAIK the guts was exactly the same. Speedo gear was different due to
different diff ratio.

Note that I'm only guessing that the early AE85 tranny and the SR5 tranny
had the same input bearing. Could be wrong about all of this, but hey...
you have to start somewhere Smile

yes, early, 20 spline T50s have a smaller diameter input shaft bearing.
I know there should be a custom spacer installed when a 4A bell is used on an 20 spline T50.

All 22 spline T50s and T40s are the same and all 20 spline T50s and T40s are the same.
Now i want to know the measurements of the spacer to make the 2 work together Smile
