Tachometer wire colour

Hey peeps. I'm trying to wire up my omex ecu to run the original tachometer after getting a drive unit. Could somebody tell me which colour wire I should be looking for to splice into in the footwell? Thanks

Factory manual says black.. so that wont be much help I'm afraid.

I'm not sure that the tacho wire does go into the footwell... it runs into
the dash loom via the big squarish plug high on the firewall behind the
engine. It's wire # 13 in the above diagram.

Since you won't be using the original tacho feed wire from the igniter,
cut that wire on the engine side of the plug, and extend it along the line
of the engine loom and down into the footwell.

Cheers for that Jondee. I don't know how relevant that is on a JDM AE86, since the wiring layout is a little different compared to USDM. I'll have a look tomorrow and see what I come up with.

Worked for me on my NZDM AE86... same as Euro spec I believe. But
only about nine of the available pin positions were used... pin usage varies
with market and options. You can verify the tacho wire by tracking it back
to the igniter.

Thanks Jondee, I figured this out in the end and now the tachometer is working. Now I just need to figure out how to get the engine running right, but that's for another topic entirely.
