Question about the wagons.
Did any of the wagons come with factory IRS? From looking at the EPC, looks as though they were either 4 link + panhard, or leaf springs? If so, was it only very late model ones? Only a particular chassis code? Or were they just not made. cheers. |

i think the stations got live axle, because of the space the IRS takes in the boot. For a sedan/liftback it doesn't matter, but for an Estate/Wagon it does!

None had IRS. We did a comparison between my live axle TA60 and the IRS Celica AA63 boot floor and it did matter a lot! There is quite a big bulge on the boot floor for the shock absorbers and larger differential...
There are some differences in the wagons/vans though: all wagon versions got coil springs instead of the leaf springs... So, the European versions (CA60/TA60), but also the Japanese SG (aka Surf) versions had the coil springs. All vans (xA67) had leaf springs, but these were not sold outside Japan. 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |
