God damn, it's good to be at the point of a project where you can start doing some fun stuff again!
I took my Dad for a bit of a drive around yesterday, he's helped me out to no end on this project and so it was pretty cool to go for a drive and celebrate how far we've managed to come with it. I've been trying to suss out what would be the best camera angle, which shutter speed and FPS works best, etc etc. for a trackday that I'm heading to in April. My Decent microphone has run out of batteries so there's only some muffled doort noises from the onboard mono mic on my DSLR in this vid but just to get a bit of an idea: And with a timer setup I took a few long(ish) exposure pics on the way back: Who needs a supercharger whine, when you've got my diff? lol. Looking forward to getting the exhaust remade so it's a little less raspy as well. I will work on getting some better sound quality, I've got a few tricks up my sleeve! I think I might mount a mic in the engine bay near the airbox, and have the right channel recording off the DSLR mic and the left channel from the engine bay. Or something like that, will have a bit of a muck around and see what works well. Generally speaking I think the most enjoyable in car videos are ones where you can see what the driver is up to, as well as being useful feedback for how you were doing things wrong later on. So might rejig the angles a bit so there's less roof and more gear shifter etc. I've got a pretty grunty spare tripod so I might get all 'Misery' on it and give it some different feet that wont move. So it mounts in the car nice and sturdily without any worry that I'm going to cop a DSLR in the face at 180kph if (when...) I spin out. |

They do fit on a TA60, altho the bottom coil on the stock springs is a bit smaller. Seeing as the AA63 has independant rear suspension, my guess is that they don't fit.
Also, some more info about what will fit, and what not, on the TA60. TA60 steeringarms do NOT share the same boltwidth with the AE86, So, if you swap suspension, make sure it's complete with steeringarms S13 camberplates will fit, with slight slotting of the holes (+/- 1mm) TA60 spindles will fit AE86 struts, but will leave the cotterpin hole half covered. I used a smaller cotterpin to solve this problem. TA60 brakebrackets (the ones that bolt onto the strut) do NOT bolt onto the AE86 struts. I used a combination of the AE86 brackets and TA60 caliper, combined with a few spacers and longer bolts in order to use the TA60 brakes. Rear AE86 springs will fit, but the lower coil on the TA60 spring is a bit smaller. Can be solved with a blowtorch, or just leave it as is and hope for the best (i used an extra rubber from the top to get it to seat properly). Rear shocks is just about the same as any other toyota, pretty straight forward, eye mount on the bottom. Top goes through the floor. |

From the auctions on Yahoo Auctions I see the AA63 shares the springs with the GX61/GX71/GA61:
http://page11.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/au...n127980693 So I guess a set of Supra Mk2 springs will fit.... 1983 - AE86 Sprinter Trueno - import project 2013 - Honda Civic sport - daily driver 2004 - AEU86 dot ORG - daily domain Support our forum, buy from the AEU86 shop: |

AA63 is IRS, so it's the same rear setup as all the IRS #60 series cars, that's why the springs would fit. It's all quite modular.

There was few days with sunny weather (still a bit cold and icy) so i decided to visit my parents place and get the EE90 corolla bumper installed. Still needs a little bit of work to sit nicely but im happy how it turned out. (especially since i had no bumper at all before)
Summer is just around the corner and we get to start our garage project so thats good news. Itll be a "little" improvement for the working conditions Havent been able to get much done since theres not much motivation working outside at freezing temperatures / shitty weather. |
