ULTRA MDI
I don't have one, but as a general comment, you only need enough spark
to effectively ignite the mixture in the cylinder. Once you have enough spark (and the OEM coil will work just fine), doubling or trippling the spark energy will have no benefit. The only time you might need to upgrade is if you are running Formula Atlantic type rpm, or high turbo pressure. If you are running a stock or mildly modified engine, save your cash, and put it towards something with a proven performance benefit... cams, compression, exhaust etc. Cheers... jondee86 |

ULTRA MDI
I' had been trying to remember where I saw this....
http://forums.club4ag.com/zerothread?id=18900 Have a read... there is quite a bit of effort involved in installing the kit, and not much comment regarding benefits. I used GZE coils and CAS plus a basic standalone ECU to get wasted spark on my 16V engine. So I have fully programmable fuel and ignition maps, plus a bunch of other cool features, for around about the price of one of these Ultra kits. If you can get it it for half price, and don't intend going to a standalone ECU, then go for it But if you can see a standalone in your future plans, then I doubt if it is worth the time and effort to install the Ultra. My 2c Cheers... jondee86 |
